رواية "دروس إضافية" تدخل بالقارئ إلى عالم الحقيقة والواقع تحاكي قصة ثلاث شبان يحملان جنسية المملكة العربية السعودية، سافروا إلى أميركا لتلقي العلوم ولمتاعبة مسيرة الثقافة في البلاد المتحضرة فأخذتهم الدينا إلى عالمها الجديد عالم التقدم والحضارة والنساء والعلم؛ كان لإقامتهم في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية تغيراً في حياتهم الخاصة.
وقد حاول الكاتب التركيز على إحدى الشخصيات في روايته وهو (بندر) الذي تزوج من أجنبية، عادت معه إلى بلاده راضية بالسكن والإقامة معه، غير آبهة بالتقاليد والعادات الجديدة، ولكن الواقع كان على خلاق الحقيقة إلا رفضت الزوجة البقاء في وطن زوجها ورغبت بالعودة.
في هذه الرواية أدخلنا الكاتب إلى موضوع جديد لم يناقش من قبل وهو زواج العربي من أجنبية؟ فهل يكتب لمثل هذا الزواج النجاح؟ وما هو مصير الاجيال القادمة الناجمة عن مثل هذه العلاقة؟
