بقدر ما كانت الرحلة ميداناً فسيحاً للمغامرة الانطولوجيّة، كانت أيضاً ميداناً خصباً لمغامرة الكتابة الّتي ترسّخ شكلها عبر تراكمات النصّ، من دون أن يمنع ذلك من تنوّع وسائل الإبلاغ داخل تقاليد الكتابة المشتركة، في الرحلة على إختلاف طريقها، سواء أكان سفارياً أم حجازيّاً، سياحيّاً أم مزاريّاً، علميّاً أم فهرسيّاً، حركة أم دليلاً.
هذه الدراسة لا تهدف إلى الحديث عن محتويات ومضامين الرحلة المغربيّة أثناء القرن التاسع عشر، بل إلى محاورة الجانب البنائيّ للرحلة قبل الحديث عن المحتوى، ما دامت الرحلة نصّاً حربائياً، بالمعنى الإيجابيّ، يأخذ لون كلّ فضاء، سواء أكان ماديّاً أم مجازيّاً، يمرّ به الرحّالة.
في المغامرة الجريئة لهذه الدراسة قد تكون الرحلة حجازيّة الموضوع، ولكنّها متعدّدة طرائق الكتابة، بحكم إنتقالات الرحّالة بين الفضاء الأليف والفضاء الغريب، بين لغة المتماسك ولغة المعجم الجديد غير المألوف، بين صورة العروض والأطوال والصورة الواقعيّة... صورة المرئيّات المرتبطة بالنثر اليوميّ المنحطّ، على حدّ تعبير لوكاش.
دراسة متينة لجانب من أدب الرحلة لم يتناوله الباحثون يمثل هذا المعنى من قبل.
