تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى إعادة الاعتبار لجنس أدبي مهمش سردياً، ولكنه في الوقت ذاته، يتسم بشهرة لا مزيد عليها، بحكم تجسيده للنص الجامع المانع تاريخياً وجغرافياً وأدبياً ودينياً... دون أن ينتبه إلى بنيته المركزية المجسدة في "محكي السفر" عبر نماذج محددة جسدها تراثنا الغني في الرحلة والارتحال.
إنها حكاية السفر الذي -السفر- قد نجده في النص سواء كان أدبياً وغير أدبي، علماً أن السفر قد يكون حركة مادية في الانتقال أو الترحال، كما أنه قد يكون سفراً في الوجدان والكلمات أو المتخيل...، قد نجد السفر في الشفهي أو المكتوب، في الحلم أو اليقظة، غير أن هذا لا يمنع من التأكيد -وهذا ما طرحته الدراسة- على أن السفر في الرحلة مكون مركزي أو بنية مركزية تسيطر على باقي البنى (البنيات) وتفرز خصائص بنائية جديدة مست بنية السرد، واشتغال الوصف، ومستويات اللغة التي انتقلت من مرجعيتها البلاغية إلى مرجعيتها الواقعية متحولة إلى لغة وظيفة تعددت مصادرها وأساليبها ومعجمها الشفهي و"اللهجي"، فضلاً عن احتوائها للحديث بمعادلات ملائمة للنص والمرحلة في آن واحد.
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن "الرحلة" نص يمتلك مرونة بنائية -إذا صح التعبير- تسمح له بأن يستقل ببنيته المميزة، دون أن يدير ظهره لاتساق الخطاب المتعددة، والتي -الأنساق- تأخذ تشكلاتها المتجددة في أجناس أو أنواع أخرى نتجت عن تحولات النصوص ووظائفها في سياق المتغيرات المختلفة.
