لعل الهدف من هذه الحكاية هو الاقتراب من عالم "ابن بطوطة" بأفق جديد يحافظ على ثوابت الرحلة وحوافزها المركزية. ومن أهم هذه الثوابت إرضاء نزعة الفضول المعرفي، بالمعنى الواسع، الملازمة للإنسان، غير أن أهم الحوافز، فضلاً عن الرغبة في المعرفة، في رحلة "ابن بطوطة" لرحلته، كان يكتشف وضعه الإنساني أولاً، والحكائي ثانياً.
هكذا أصبح المكتشف مكتشفاً. وأصبح "ابن بطوطة"، رحالة العرب والعجم، مؤسساً لنسق حكائي إلى الحد الذي تحولت فيه رحلته إلى رحلة نموذجية أسست لنوع أدبي جديد.
ولا شك أن هذه المحاولة هي إعادة صياغة الرحلة من خلال المحافظة على متعة الحكي الدائمة، جوهر الحكاية ونسغها، دون الابتعاد عن أسئلة عديدة طرحتها الرحلة، والرحالة، في الماضي والحاضر. والقارئ لهذا النص الجديد، يكتشف النص الموازي المشكل من أجمل المنمنمات العربية التي عبرت عن الرحلة والارتحال بإيقاع جديد، تكاملت فيه حركة الإنسان بحركة الكون، حركة الخط بحركة العيون المندهشة أو المفتوحة عن آخرها، حركة الزمان بحركة المكان.
