يسطّر المؤلف في الكتاب لبعض من عجائب الكون وآياته، وغرائب المخلوقات وربما يصطدم فكر القارئ بعجائب تأباها الطباع، ولكن ليعلم أن لا شيء يستعظم أما قدرة الخالق وجبلة المخلوق. فجميع ما فيه إما عجائب صنع الباري جلّ جلاله، وذلك إما بالمحسوس، أو المعقول، لا ميل فيها ولا خلل، وإما خبر مرويّ عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أو آله عليهم الصلاة والسلام، وهم خزانة علم الله وتراجمة وحيه، وإما خواص غريبة جاءت من وحي خبرة المؤلف وتجربته في هذه الحياة. وقد رتب الكتاب مفهرساً متسلسلاً من العلويات إلى السفليات، ولقبه بـ"عجائب الملكوت".
