عرض لحقائق علم النفس العام على أن موضوعه التوفق وليس مجرد السلوك. يتناول-بعد الفصلين الأولين في تطور العلم ومناهجه-تقسيم التوافق إلى نفسي واجتماعي. في التوافق النفسي يدرس التوافق الحسي الحركي: استجابية الأعصاب والإحساس بالتنبيهات. وفي التوافق العقلي الإدراك والتعلم والتفكير والذكاؤ. وأخيراً ففي التوافق الشخصي الدوافع والانفعالات والشخصية.
أما القسم الثاني من الكتاب فيتناول الأثر الاجتماعي في توافق الإنسان-سواء من حيث الطبيعة الاجتماعية للتوافق، ومرحلية اكتسابه، وتعدد مجالاته، وما ينتهي إليه من الصحة أو المرض. فاجتماعية التوافق تبين فردية اكتسابه بالوراثة والبيئة، ومرحليته انتقاله بالفرد من الطفولة للصبل فالمراهقة والرشد، ومجاليته الدراسة والمهنة والترويح والجنس، وصحيته كونه سوياً سليما أو سيئاً مريضاً.
والكتاب مزود بحوالي تسعين رسماً توضيحياً وحوالي خمسين جدول بيانات-تتكامل مع اختصار النص وتركيز الحقائق في اعطاء القارئ فكرة كاملة عما يفعله علم النفس اليوم في سبيل توافق الإنسان النفسي والاجتماعي.
