منذ بداية الغزو الاستيطاني اليهودي لفلسطين إلى اغتصابها وطرد أهلها، وحتى اتفاقيات التسوية، فإن الموقف اليهودي الصهيوني من الشعب الفلسطيني لم يتغير. فهو موقف عدواني عنصري، يمارس أشكالاً متعددة من الحرب ضد الشعب الفلسطيني سواء في سنوات الصراع أو سنوات التسوية. فبالإضافة إلى اغتصاب الأرض وتشريد الشعب، تعمق الأيديولوجيا الصهيونية المشاعر العنصرية ضد العرب وتنكر أنها طردت الشعب الفلسطيني من وطنه. وربما يكون هذا أحد أشكال تبرير اغتصاب الأرض وتفريغها من أصحابها. وبعد فإن الباحث يحاول في كتابه هذا معالجة تطور خاص وحاد وخطر ومحدد في مسيرة القضية الفلسطينية وهو تطور سياسي، ولكنه قائم على تطورات اقتصادية تشكل الحاصلة المادية له. هذا التطور الخاص هو انزياح مثقفين وساسة فلسطينيين وعرب عن تصفية قضية اللاجئين وشطب حق العودة.
وقد حاول الباحث في هذا الكتاب أن يكتب بأعلى حدّ ممكن من الصدق، ومحاولة الصدق هذه إنما تمثل إشارة تحرير لشعب، بل لأمة تواجه خطر أن تداس بسنابك خيل أوغاد الرأسمالية العالمية ومعها أوغاد من بين جلدتها.
