تبحث هذه الدراسة العلاقات الإسرائيلية-التركية في سياق القطبية المتأصلة بين النخبة العلمانية التركية والقطاعات ذات التوجه الديني في المجتمع التركي، ويرى المؤلف في معرض تحليله لأسباب هذا التحالف وإطاره السياسي، ان هذه العلاقات المتوطدة شيئاً فشيئاً تمثل -في أحد جوانبها على أقل تقدير-الشعور بالعزلة الذي يطوّق العسكريين الأتراك، حماة العقيدة الأتاتوركية التقليدية، في مواجهة التحديات الداخلية لتطلعاتهم لخلق أمة متجانسة.
وبعد أن يصف سمات هذا المحور نفسه ومقوماته، يبين مدى ترابطه مع عملية الحسم المتسارعة بين المؤسسة العسكرية والحكومة المدنية التي كان يتزعمها الإسلاميون. وأخيراً تبحث الدراسة هذه العلاقة في ضوء المصالح القومية التركية، لتخلص إلى أن مشكلات تركيا الرئيسية داخلية ولا تخضع للحلول الخارجية.
