لا شك أن العلاقات الأسرية تعتبر رئيساً من العلاقات التي تشكل بنية المجتمع العربي المعاصر، وتتكون هذه "البنية" من مجموع المؤسسات الإجتماعية والعلاقات الإجتماعية الموجودة في المجتمع. وتؤدي هذه العلاقات الأسرية دوراً واضحاً في تكوين شخصية الفرد العربي وفي تحديد نوعية الحياة التي يحياها في بيته وفي بيئته المحلية.
يأتي هذا الكتاب من ضمن برنامج "البيت والتنمية الأسرية" الذي ترعاه جامعة القدس المفتوحة في دولة فلسطين، ويختص بدراسة "العلاقات الأسرية" أشكالها ووظائفها والتطورات التي طرأت عليها. يهدف إلى تمكين الطالب والباحث من اكتساب مفاهيم علمية جديدة، تمكنه من الوصول إلى فهم أعمق لسيكولوجية العلاقات الأسرية، وللمكانات والأدوار التي يعيشها أعضاء أسرته، مما يساعده على التفاعل السليم مع بقية اعضاء الأسرة وبخاصة الوالدين وإقامة علاقات إيجابية مع الجميع.
وضع مادة هذا الكتاب العلمية نخبة من الأساتذة الأكاديمين في جامعة القدس المفتوحة وهم الدكتور حلمي ساري، د. نايفة قطامي، د. خليل درويش وآخرون، وقد جرى تصميمه –أي الكتاب- للمساعدة في عملية "التعليم الذاتي" وذلك من خلال القيام بالتدريبات والأنشطة العملية، والتعينات التي يرسلها الطالب إلى مشرفه الأكاديمي لتقويم إجاباته عن النفاهيم الخاصة بالعلاقات الأسرية مثل: العلاقات الزوجية، والعلاقات الأسرية والتي يجد الطالب نفسه في حيرة عما تشير إليه، والفرق بينهما، وعن أهميتها في دراسة الأسرة الإنسانية بشكل عام؟، حيث تشكل التدريبات والتعيينات المكتوبة عنصراً أساسياً في هذا الكتاب والتي هي بالأساس جزءاً من الحياة اليومية للفرد، الذي هو محور العملية التربوية برمتها، فإن صلح الفرد صلح المجتمع... وهو ما يهدف إلى تنميته برنامج العلاقات الأسرية.
يبقى أن نشير أن الكتاب هو مقرر جامعة القدس المفتوحة بدولة فلسطين.
