تلك هي بقعة أخرى من بقاع العالم حطّ الإسلام رحاله فيها منذ أمد بعيد ففاح فيها طيبه, وهبت فيها نسائمه, وانتعشت من نداه أرجاؤها, واستضاءت من نبراسه ميادينها, وارتقت بمبادئه نفوس أبنائها, ولأنها ترسّخت في القلوب رسوخ الجبال الرواسي, عجزت كل محاولات الشيوعية السوفياتية عن نزعها أو إزاحتها.
تلك البقعة المسلمة, هي آذربيجان, عاد الإسلام لتبزغ فيها شمسه من جديد بعد انعتاقها من الاتحاد السوفياتي, فظهر الإسلام من جديد وأورقت أغصانه وأزهرت أزهاره, لأن جذوره كانت وما زالت ثابتة في أرض الولاء حيث إنها تعد ثامن دولة ذات الأكثرية من أهل الولاء.
لكن أين هي آذربيبجان؟ أين موقعها؟ إلى أي بلاد تنتمي؟ وإلى أي البلاد كانت تتبع؟ متى دخلها الإسلام؟ ما هو حال مسلميها؟ ما قصة محاولات الاتحاد السوفياتي لانتزاع الإسلام منها؟ هل نجحوا في ذلك؟ أم أنهم فشلوا؟ وكيف واجه المسلمون الآذربيجانيون هذه المحاولات؟ وكيف هي حال أبنائها اليوم.
لهاذا جاء الكتاب هذا ليقدم دراسة عن الإسلام في آذربيجان, وصحيح أنها دراسة مختصرة, لكنها دراسة تامة لكل تلك الجوانب التي أشير إليها, وهي تقع ضمن سلسلة من الدراسات عن الإسلام في مختلف أقطار العالم, مستقاة من دائرة المعارف الحسينية لمؤلفها الشيخ الدكتور محمد صادق محمد الكرباسي, وقد علّق عليها ابن تلك البلاد الشيخ لطيف بن عاكف لطيف أف وقدم لها بنبذة عن تاريخها معرجاً على عهد الإتحاد السوفياتي متطرقاً إلى الإسلام في الثقافة الآذربيجانية وجذور التشيّع فيها ودور الشعائر الحسينية.
هذه الدراسة بالإضافة إلى تناولها لكل المواضيع التي أشير إليها آنفاً تناولت بالذكر بعض أعلام تلك البلاد وآثارهم.
