عن العشق والهوى يكتب زهدي دهنيم في مجموعته الشعرية "شتات" في سعي حثيث نحو تأسيس بنية شعرية مشحونة بقوة العاطفة وممتلئة بمنظورات حسية متفوقة في خطابها، ومتقاربة في دلالاتها، فيتجه الشاعر إلى الأفق المفتوح ليصوب سهم قصيدته إلى محبوبته فيخاطبها شعراً: "حبيبتي منى/ما أجمل الغضب/تدور حولنا/وساوس العجبْ/في أبحر المنى/والقلبُ في نصبْ/يمرُّ حولنا/كل الذي ذهبْ/حسبي الذي أتى/من ثغرك العتب/وقلبك الندي/وثغرك الرطب (...)". بهذا النغم يجعل شاعرنا من اللغة أداةً للشعر؛ وعلامة فنيته الحقيقية، وقدرته المنوط بها فتنة المتلقي حيث يقول: "أنا والكتابة مثل الجراح... وتؤلمني كلما راح همس يُريدُ افتضاحي" وبهذا المعنى تكون الكتابة بلسم جراح الشاعر ووسيلته للتعبير، والوصول إلى ذاكرة القارئ وبإشارات ودلالات رمزية واضحة، تنساب عبر خيال خصب ينصبُّ في واقع النص وتنوعاته.
في الكتاب (ثلاثة وثلاون) قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث، ثيمتها الحب، نسج الشاعر حروفها بأنين أعماقه وبحسرات من ذاته وفؤاده، فاستحق أن يكون "شتات" حالة حب وهكذا هو...
من عناونين القصائد نذكر: "حسرة"، "لمحة"، "مجون"، "منى"، "بشارة"، "حين يزهر الشوق"، "موغلة في الغياب"، "إقرار"، "لا أنثى بعدها". (...) وقصائد أخرى.
