في روايته "على ضفتي أنثى" يركز الروائي كاميران حسن على موضوع الرغبة ومساربها سواء أكانت شرعية أو غير شرعية. فتحقيق الرغبة، والبحث عن الشريك، وملىء الفراغ العاطفي هي الثيمات التي تتمحور حولها الرواية، ثم اعترافات بطله الذي يبقى مجهور الإسم يقبع في أغوار ذكريات اغترابه، وسلوكه في الرواية الغير مستقيم، وإلى حد ما غير أخلاقي، مشتت بين غرائزه وكبته وما تراكم من تقاليد وتعاليم مجتمعه عبر الحلال والحرام الذي تربى ونما عليه، ولكن رغبته الشديدة في الجنس الآخر، فجرها في رحلته إلى بلاد الإغتراب مع مارينا التي وجدها إنسانة حرة، منطلقة، تعيش صعب نواميس قلبها ومجتمعها، ليهرب منها بعد حين، ويلجأ إلى سونيا الفتاة الشرقية السمراء الجذابة والتي تعاني ما يعانيه من فقدان للحب في حياتها، ولأنها شرقية تتجاوب مع نداءات قلبها وبطل الرواية ولكن بشروط رسمية، لذلك يهرب منها هي الأخرى ويعود إلى السهل الممتنع مارينا التي تبعث الحياة في روحه بعدما كادت تتجمد في تيه الإغتراب.
وهكذا، تكون في "على ضفتي أنثى" أمام مسارات روائية متعاقبة، بدا خلالها الروائي صاحب قدرة كبيرة على السرد، والإغراق في التفاصيل والجزئيات والحركات والمشاهد، وبراعة في وصف بعض المواقف الدرامية أو اللحظات الحميمة، وتراكم للتفاصيل النفسية والشعورية للشخوص ما يحبس أنفاس القارىء ويستفز انتباهه.
