هذا كتاب "المنهج الأحمد، في تراجم أصحاب الإمام أحمد" الذي صنفه قاضي قضاة القدس في أوائل القرن العاشر الهجري "أبو اليمن مجير الدين عبد الرحمن ابن محمد بن عبد الرحمن العليمي" المتوفى في سنة 928 ثمان وعشرين وتسعمائة من الهجرة النبوية عن ثمانية وستين عاماً ذكر مؤلفه ما تيسر من مناقب "الإمام أحمد رضي الله عنه".
ثم ذكر أصحابه الذين عاصروه، فابتدأ بذكر من توفي منهم قبله، ثم ذكر من توفي منهم بعده، ثم ذكر من لم تؤرخ وفاته، وبعد الإنتهاء من أسماء الأصحاب من الطبقة الأولى بَيَّنَ منهم من اشتهر من أعيان أصحابه من الفقهاء الذين كانوا على مذهبه في الأصول والفروع ونقلوا عنه الفقه فنقل عنهم إلى من يليهم حتى وصل إليه، وسَرَد أسماءهم متواليةً ليتميزوا عن غيرهم من أصحابه الذين قرأوا عليه الحديث وغيره ورَوَوْا عنه من غير المشهورين بالتمذهب بمذهبه في فروع الفقه، ثم ذكر أسماء الأصحاب من بعد الطبقة الأولى مرتباً على الطبقات والوَفَيَات ومَنْ لم يَطَّلع على تاريخ وفاته ذَكَرَ اسمه، وما وقف عليه من ترجمته، والعَصْرَ الذي كان موجوداً فيه إن عَلِمَه، وأوْجَزَ اللفظ حسب الإمكان، وحذف الأسانيد مما رواه فيه من الأحاديث الشريفة في بعض التراجم طلباً للإختصار؛ وهو كتاب جيد في بابه، جَمَع فيه مؤلفه بين طبقات الحنابلة "لابن أبي يعلى وذيله لابن رجب" ثم زاد عليهما.
وقام المحقق بفصل مباحثه، وضبط غرائبه والمشتبه من أعلامه، ووضع للأعلام المترجمة رقماً مٌسَلْسَلاً سيستمر تسلسلُه إلى آخر الكتاب، ودلَّ مع كل عَلَم منها على بعض المراجع التي ترجمت له ليزداد الباحث اللَّقنُ منها إن أراد، له فهارس دقيقة مرتبة ترتيباً هجائياً بحسب أوائل الأسماء وثوانيها وهكذا إلى آخرها، وبحسب أسماء الآباء ثم الأجداد كذلك.
