إلى المرأة وعنها تكتب هناء الجلبي الشعر في مجموعتها الشعرية "شمس على أفق الأربعين"، العنوان الذي اختارته للتعبير عن خلجات وآهات منطوية تحت حس واحد، هو حسّ المرأة الشاعرة، وقد انسكب في نص يتسم بشاعرية في كل شوارده ومخاطباته النقية تجاه الجنس الآخر، فتناجيه بقصيدة عنوانها (إلى أغنيات رحيل) نقول فيها: "رجل على حافة القمر، ترك قبلة، تركها تحرقُ شفاهي، فكتب على وجه البحر "أحبك"، (...) لا تكن آخر الليل، ينسجُ من دمي غطاء لجسدي، ويسجد علي سواد قبري، ثم... يموت".
هذه الشاعرية تبشر بموهبة حقيقية تحاول من خلالها الشاعرة الجلبي العثور على ذاتها فهي تشتغل كمجايليها على قصيدة النثر، وتجعلها مرتكزاً لبث شفراتها، وذلك عبر تنوير العبارات والاعتناء بالألفاظ والكلمات، وطرحها الواعي لثيمات أخرى مختلفة في النص تطال (العائلة/الأب) و(الفرح والحزن)، و(الوجع والوطن)، فأبدعت في طرح الواقع عن طريق الشعر.
تضم الجموعة عشرون قصيدة نثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "أرى لم أرَ"، "مرثية المطر"، "نسياً منسياً"، "حمامةٌ من ظهر الخيول"، "مدينة أبي"، "ليل على باب الصليب"، "تحت شجرة الأنبياء"، "دمعة جبلٍ"، "باب السجن"، "نعي"، "آية"، "موت الأرض" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
