أصبح العالم قرية صغيرة وأصبح التداخل بين الشعوب والثقافات أمراً واقعاً وهذا يتطلب الإلمام ببعض اللغات التي تسهل عملية التواصل وتجعلها ممكنة. ومن هنا تأتي الحاجة إلى قواميس ومعاجم في غير اللغات التي اعتاد العرب على التخاطب بها، كالإنكليزية والفرنسية. واللغة الإيطالية إحدى اللغات الحية المهمة التي تكتنز الكثير من النتاج الفكري والثقافي والإلمام بها أضحى حاجة ماسة خاصة لمن يتصدى لدراسة آدابها وثقافتها.
واليوم يضع المؤلف هذا المعجم محققاً بذلك سبقاً يعكس أهمية العمل. والجهد البالغ الذي بذله في إعداد هذا القاموس، واضح وبين، فسد بذلك نقص واضح إلى مثل هذا القاموس في اللغة العربية. اعتمد المؤلف على المعاجم الإيطالية التي جمع منها مادة هذا العمل ثم قام بتصنيف المفردات واصفاً أمام كل مفردة ما يقابلها باللغة العربية فجاء قاموسه شاملاً جامعاً لكل ما حوته القواميس السابقة وزاد عليها بإدخاله للمفردات والمصطلحات الحديثة المتداولة بكثرة ويمكن القول إن هذا القاموس يلبي حاجة الطلاب والدارسين والباحثين الذين فرضت عليهم طبيعة العلاقة بين الثقافتين العربية والإيطالية أن يعنوا بدراسة الإيطالية والتعامل بها: كما أنه بنفس الأهمية أيضاً للطلبة الإيطاليين الراغبين في دراسة اللغة العربية وسيجد الباحث عناية خاصة بالمصطلحات العلمية الحديثة في مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا، وبتلك المعبرة عن الاتجاهات لسياسية والفلسفية والأدبية والفنية المعاصرة.
