كثير من الشباب يبدأ ممارسة هواية الكتابة في المرحلة الإعدادية أو قبلها أو بعدها، يكتب الخواطر وربما القصص والمقالات، ويتجرأ البعض بإرسال ما يكتب إلى الصحف والمجلات، ولمّا كانت الصحف لديها صفحات كثيرة وفراغ كبير، فإنها تنشر بعض هذه الكتابات دون تدخل كبير، ودون تقديم النصح والمشورة للكاتب.
ويظن الشاب أنه أصبح كاتباً بمجرد ظهور كتاباته في الصحف، ولكن الحقيقة غير ذلك، فليس هذا النشر دليلاً على ذلك مطلقاً، وتستمر المحاولات دون توجيه صحيح، حتى غننا نرى من أدمن الكتابة دون تقدم يذكر...
هذه الورقات أعدت لتكون في أيدي المتدربين وهي في الأصل دورة عقدت في الكتابة الصحفية شارك فيها أساتذة من قسم الإعلام بكلية الدعوة بالمدينة المنورة بالإضافة إلى الدكتور "أحمد الخراط" أستاذ اللغة العربية وقد احتوت هذه الورقات على القواعد العامة للكتابة قسمها المؤلف إلى قسمين أولهما تقنيات الكتابة وطرقها، والثاني إرشادات عامة ونصائح حول التعامل مع وسائل الإعلام، ثم أتبعت ذلك بعدد من المقالات التي تناول فيها بعض رسائل القراء حول قضية الكتابة.
