لأجل ذلك جاء هذا الكتاب، ليطرق أبوابا جديدة في مهارات الكتابة باللغة العربية ولا سيما ما يختص منها بالكتابة الصحفية، بأشكالها كافة: الكتابة الوظيفية، الكتابة الإبداعية، المقال الصحفي، العمل الكتابي العلمي، العمل الكتابي الفني، إلى آخر ذلك من سائر النصوص التي يمكن أن يكتبها الإنسان من أدب، وشعر، وبحث علمي، واقتباسات، وترجمات ...
يساعد هذا الكتاب الدارسين المختصين من فنيين وعاملين، ويخاطب جمهور المتلقين من مستويات علمية متعددة، ويقدم أسلوباً مهماً في فن التخاطب الإعلامي ومن هنا تأتي أهميته.
جاء الكتاب في أربعة فصول ومباحث نذكر منها: الفصل الأول وحمل عنوان (السمات) ويبحث في الفرق بين الكتابة الوظيفية والكتابة الإبداعية، أما الفصل الثاني فجاء بعنوان (المهارات) ويبحث في مهارات أساسية مثل (التحرير- التعامل مع الأسماء والأرقام - العنوان الصحفي - الإخراج الصحفي .. الخ). وجاء الفصل الثالث بعنوان (الأشكال) ويبحث في معايير الجدارة الإخبارية (الجمهور - التأثير - أساسية الصحيفة - كتابة الخبر ... الخ). أما الفصل الرابع والأخير فجاء بعنوان (قضايا) ويبحث في المهارات والقدرات .. الثقافة العامة .. الخ.
