اختلف الآخذون من بحر الحسين عليه السلام، فكل نظر إلى معطيات ثورته من زاوية معينة، فمن نظر من زاوية الأخلاق خرج مثقلاً بالدروس الأخلاقية، ومن نظر من زاوية السياسة عرف سرّ خلود الحسين وسر انتصاره رغم استشهاده وهكذا. ولكن قليل هم الذين نظروا إلى الحسين من زاوية مقامه النوراني. وكثيرة هي الأسئلة التي تراود أذهان الكثيرين ممن أنشدوا نحو هذا الإمام العظيم، لماذا سمّي الحسين عليه السلام بهذا الاسم؟ وما هو سرّ تأثر الناس باسم الحسين عليه السلام؟ ما هذا التحريض والحث والترغيب لزيارة قبره الشريف؟ ولماذا تُخصُّ زيارة الحسين عليه السلام بهذه المزايا دون غيره من أئمة أهل البيت عليهم السلام؟ ما الذي حول تربة الحسين عليه السلام دواءً لكل داء؟
وهكذا تتراءى عشرات الأسئلة حول شهادته عليه السلام وكلها طامحة في إجابات تروي غليلها. وفي هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا إجابات وافية عن هذه الأسئلة وغيرها جادت بها قريحة علمين من أعلام القرن الثالث عشر: أحدهما الحكيم أحمد بن زين الدين الإحسائي (1166-1241هـ)، والآخر الحكيم السيد كاظم الحسيني الرشتي (1212-1259هـ).
