إن العلوية مذهب إسلامي صريح، وهي مدرسة متفرعة من المذهب الإمامي الجعفري الاثنا عشري الكبير، والجماعة الإسلامية المستنيرة في العلويين اليوم مطالبة بتصحيح وإعادة النظر في بعض المفاهيم في نطاق من التسامح والبر والصبر والحب وسعة الأفق، والإقناع، ومراعاة الظروف جماعة عزيزة على أخوتهم المسلمين لحق بها على مسرى التاريخ الكثير من الظلم والعنت والألم حيناً والإهمال حيناً آخر، وانتهى الأمر أخيراً إلى ما وصل إليه كردة فعل لطبيعة الأشياء، وكنتيجة منطقية لمقدمة شاذة غير سوية. واليوم يعلن العلويون على رؤوس الإشهاد إقراراً بألسنتهم، واعتقاداً بأفئدتهم، وعملاً بجوارحهم بأنهم يبرأون إلى الله من أية هوية لا تنتمي إلى الإسلام والعروبة والتشيع. ومفيدة العلوي هي التوحيد المحض، وتنزيه الخالق عن كل مشابهة للمخلوق، والإقرار بنبوة سيد المرسل محمد (صلى الله عليه وسلم) والاعتقاد بالمعاد، والعمل بدعائم الإسلام الخمس، والاعتقاد بإقامة اثني عشر إمام معصوم أولهم أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه، وآخرهم المهدي المنتظر محمد بن الحسن الذي سيظهر في آخر الزمان ويملؤها قسطاً وعدلاً كما ملئت ظلماً وجوراً.
من هذا المنطلق جهد المؤلف في تقديم هذا الكتاب الذي يبحث فيه بالغلو الذي لحق بالعلويين متطرقاً في سبيل ذلك لدراسة حول الفلسفة والتصوف والتشيع عندهم وهذا بغاية تقديم رؤية علمية منهجية حول العلويين ومعتقداتهم ولبيان أسباب شيوع ما أشيع عنهم من خروجهم عنه ربقة الإسلام على مدى التاريخ.
