في الوقت الذي وصل العلم إلى أوج تقدمه ورقية، لكن مع الأسف فإن البشرية أخفقت في التقدم على صعيد القيم الإنسانية فعادت تتراجع القهقهري وتمكن الانهيار والاضمحلال الخلقي من أن يأخذ مأخذه من المجتمعات فأصبحت المجتمعات تعاني من المشاكل التي لا تستطيع حلها بواسطة العلم الذي توصلت إليه، بسبب ابتعادها عن القيم اللازمة للإنسان فقد انصب الاهتمام على الحياة المادية للإنسان دون إعطاء الروح أهمية تذكر فتحول الإنسان إلى وحش يحاول أن يفتك بمن حوله، ناسياً خالقه وأنه سوف يعود إليه، ويجازيه على عمله في الدنيا، وأن الخالق الذي وهب الحياة قادر على أن يستردها.
فكان هذا الكتاب الذي يتطرق إلى مجموعة من الناس امتلأت قلوبهم خوفاً من خالقهم فكان هذا الخوف محفزاً للطاعة ونشر العدل بين العباد فترى أرواحهم لم تسكن أجسامهم ولم يملوا أو يتعبوا من الوقوف بين يدي الله عز وجل، وضع من أجل تحديد مدى الخوف الذي يشعر به كبار الإنسانية من أنبياء وأئمة وأولياء وعلماء وقوم سلكوا طريق التوبة، على أن ذلك الخوف كان بدرجات متفاوتة حسب الخائف ومدى معرفته.
