قد اكتسب كتاب فتح البديع قيمة علمية وأدبية بين كتب الأدب والبلاغة والموسوعات الأدبية، تجعل منه مصدراً مهماً لدارسي أدب العصر العثماني خاصة، ولدارسي الأدب والبلاغة عامة، ولا سيما فن البديعيات.
وينقسم هذا البحث إلى بابين: الباب الأول: "الدراسة": يقع هذا الباب في أربعة فصول، يتناول الأول منها المؤلف وعصره وحياته، شيوخه وتلامذته، شخصيته وآثاره، وذلك لبيان منزلته العلمية، وتعرف جوانب شخصيته الإجتماعية والفكرية التي كانت صنيعة البيئة التي احتوت موهبته، وإنعكاسات ذلك كله على إنتاجه الأدبي، ونشير هنا إلى أن دراسة العصر اقتصرت على ماله مسيس صلة بحياة المؤلف.
في حين يقدم الفصل الثاني دراسة تحليلية لمضمون الكتاب، بدءاً من الأسس المنهجية التي اتبعها مؤلفه، مروراً بالمعارف الغزيرة التي يتضمنها، مع تخصيص جزء خاص من هذا الفصل لبيان موقف العرض من ابن حجة والموصلي؛ أما الفصل الثالث، فهو دراسة مقارنة تبرز مرتبة بديعية العرضي وشرحها بين البديعيات والكتب التي تناولت هذا الموضوع، ويتناول الفصل الرابع أبيات بديعية العرضي بالدراسة الفنية، موجهاً تلك الدراسة إلى كل من الأسلوب والصورة، في بديعية العرضي خاصة، علماً بأننا لم نقف على دراسات تناولت الصور الفنية في البديعيات.
أما الباب الثاني: "التحقيق" ويتناول هذا الباب كتاب (فتح البديع في حل الطراز البديع في إمتداح الشفيع) بالتحقيق إعتماداً على النسخ المخطوطة والمراجع اللازمة.
