هذا كتاب في السياسة، وليس كتاباً في الدين. إنه محاولة لوصل النبوَّة بالسياسة ولفصلها أيضاً. إمرة النبوة مبرمة. السياسة بنت الاختيار، وتصَّوب بمنطق التجربة والخطأ. السيرة السياسية للرسول في المدينة، تختلف عن سيرته النبويّة في مكة، من دون أن يعني انقطاعاً نبوياً. محمد في مكة نبي، وفي المدينة نبي وقائد، في السياسة والقتال، بمزايا عبقرية لم يتمتع بها قائد في التاريخ. محمد وحده، بين قادة العالم، من أنشأ إمبراطورية عظمى من لا شيء قبله، وبشَّر بدين مسكوني، لا يني يترسخ وينتشر ويعبّر عن نفسه، بطرق عديدة، وبلا انقطاع، حتى عصرنا الراهن.
هي محاولة لقراءة السياسة التي اجترحها محمد، في بيئة المدينة وظروفها. فسيرته السياسية هي إبداع عبقريته وبُعد بصيرته وشدة إيمانه بربّه ودعوته. وهي سيرة غنية جداً ومتنوعة كثيراً.
هذا الكتاب، محاولة لإلقاء الضوء على بشرية الرسول وقيادته وتجاربه ومهاراته وإبداعاته طبقاً للشروط التي تؤمن انتصاره، تأييداً لدعوته الدينية.
