يرى المؤلف بأن الحوار العربي-العربي الذي تتطلبه ظروف المنطقة هو مقدمة للنهضة العربية المنفتحة على مشروع حضاري جددي. فهو وعاء فكري تتجذر فيه القيم والأخلاق والثقافة العربية. وهذا الحوار يجب أن ينفتح أولاً حول جملة من المسائل التي طرحها الباحث وشرحها ضن فصول هذا الكتاب وهي أولاً مسألة نمط الإنتاج العربي المعاصر: نظرة تحليلية إلى الواقع العربي: هدر الإمكانات، ثانياً مسألة الوطن وكنهه المنشود: ربط النهضة في القضية الوطنية: حديث المنطق والتاريخ، ثالثاً مسألة الماضي وعلاقته بالمستقبل: بعث التراث بالتجديد؛ التجديد الاستراتيجي؛ رابعاً: مسألة الديموقراطية الحضارية وحقوق الإنسان: مفاتيح الديموقراطية في المنطقة العربية؛ هدم اللاديموقراطية، خامساً مسألة أطراف الحوار؛ الطليعة العربية في جماهيرها: العودة إلى التاريخ.
وأما الهدف من هذا الجهد الفكري فهو استنبات جذور القضية العربية في تربة الإدراك، وغرسها في أعماق الكتلة الجماهيرية. هذه الكتلة الجماهيرية يجب أن يعود إليها الإيمان بحقها في حياة تمسك فيها بأعنة مستقبلها وتملك أخيراً استقلالها في وطن كبير لها فيه الحق كما لغيرها في أوطانهم الكبيرة. وهكذا فإن وعياً متوثباً في الأقطار العربية هو الزاد للعمل العربي المشترك والباب المفتوح إلى التحرر والديموقراطية.
