يتناول الكتاب الحديث عن ثلاثة مواضيع هامة في حياة المسلمين وهي السلام, حيث بين كيفية طرح الإسلام لموضوع السلام, من خلال ما أنزله الله عز وجل من وحي سماوي على عبده محمد عليه السلام كما قام بإعطاء فكرة مختصرة عن سورة القلم, تلك السورة التي حددت لمحمد صلى الله عليه وسلم أطر المسؤوليات الملقاة على عاتقه لإشهار وتبليغ تعاليم هذه الرسالة التي حمله ربه إياها الى الناس كافة, ومن ثم تحدث عن الجهاد, والذي ليس بمعنى القتال والقضاء على المخالفين ولكن بمعنى بذل جهد طاقة المؤمن لتبليغ تعاليم هذا الدين الى الناس قاطبة. وانتقل بعد ذلك للحديث عن القتال مع بيان الأخطار التي كانت محدقة بالدولة الإسلامية الناشئة التي تأسست في المدينة المنورة.
