فالنفس إقبال وأدبار، وإشراق وانطماس، ونشاط ونفور، وخير ما روضها المسلم عليه، هو: هدي الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، فتعطي النفس حقوقها وتستوفي حظوظها من الطاعة. وترك الرسوم القيود أقوى للنفس، وأيسر عليها، فلا عبادة مخصوصة، إلا بما ورد بها الشرع الحكيم. ولا لبسة مخصوصة، إلا كذلك، وكذلك الجلسة والنوم، والأكل، والأوراد، والنوافل. وتخصيص بعض الأوقات لبعض العبادات، والتكاليف مما لم يرد: مشقة وعنت. والمتنان نشاط النفس: فقه جليل، وتركها عند الخمول، والكسل: هدى نبيل. ولبعض المجالس نفحات خير: من صمت عن جهل، وتكلم بعلم، أو مصاحبة ونار وتؤدة، أو سماع فائدة. وإذا لم يكن بوسعك جلساء لجلستك فخير جليس في الأنام كتاب. وفي الكتاب، ما تتوق إليه النفس، وما يصبو إليه العقل، وما تهفو إليه الروح. مختارات يتفيأ في ظلالها القارئ، عند روضة تجمع الأدب والدين والفلسفة وتربية.
