يعد كتاب "فاس عاصمة الأدارسة، ووسائل أخرى "العدد الثالث من إصدارات "الموسوعة الكتانية لتاريخ فاس"، بعد كتابي "زهر الآس في بيوتات فاس" لنسابة المغرب عبد الكبير بن هاشم الكتاني، و"تحفة الأكياس في التذييل على زهر الآس" لمؤرخ فاس محمد بن عبد الكبير بن هاشم الكتاني.
ولقد رام مؤلف هذا الكتاب الإمام الشيخ محمد المنتصر بالله الكتاني إبراز أهم النقاط المتعلقة بفاس؛ كحضارة أولاً، ثم كجامعة علمية رائدة على المستوى الوطني والعالمي، ثم من حيث إشعاعها على المستوى المغاربي، ذاكراً مثالين: الأول من موريطانيا والثاني من الجزائر، ثم يتطرق المؤلف إلى الإمام الغزالي وعلاقته الروحية والعلمية بالمغرب، كمثال بارز على مدى التلاقح العلمي والفكري بين المغاربة والمشارقة، ثم يعرض لإنتاج فاس ومدارسها في الأندلس والمغرب من الناحية التأليفية، ويختم الكتاب بقصيدة من روائع الأدب المغربي للشاعر المغربي الأندلسي ابن دراج السبتي.
يعد هذا الكتاب - على صغر حجمه - لبنة مهمة في التراث المغربي، وخزانة موسوعية تطرقت إلى حقائق تاريخية، ومعلومات فريدة في التراث المغاربي والأندلسي عامة، والتراث الفاسي خاصة، مع روح إسلامية عالية، ومنهجية فكرية راقية، بحيث يفتقر إليه كل مغربي، بل كل مسلم غيور على آثار آبائه المسلمين، فهو كتاب تاريخ وإجتماع وفقه وفكره وسياسة...
