ولدت بيان نويهض الحوت في مدينة القدس. وبعد النكبة، اختار والدها البقاء في الأردن، حيث درست في عمان ورام الله. وفي نهاية الخمسينات عاد وأسرته نهائياً إلى مسقط رأسه في لبنان، فأتمت دراستها العليا، ونالت دكتوراه دولة في العلوم السياسية من الجامعة اللبنانية، ثم انصرفت إلى التدريس في الجامعة نفسها. من مؤلفاتها: "صبرا وشاتيلا: أيلول 1982"؛ "القيادات والمؤسسات السياسية في فلسطين، 1917 ـ 1948" (1981)؛ "الشيخ المجاهد عز الدين القسام في تاريخ فلسطين" (1987)؛ "فلسطين: القضية، الشعب، الحضارة: التاريخ السياسي من عهد الكنعانيين حتى القرن العشرين ـ 1917" (1991)؛ "مذكرات عجاج نويهض: ستون عاماً مع القافلة العربية" (إعداد، 1993).

أكدت بيان نويهض الحوت في كتاب "إشكالية الوعي والذاكرة العربية على ضوء الصراع العربي الإسرائيلي" على اهمية الأمثلة الميدانية في تفجير الوعي والذاكرة. إذ لولا الإنتصارات التي تحققت على أيدي المقاومين في لبنان وفلسطين، وهي أمثلة ميدانية، لما استعيدت الثقة بإمكانية الإنتصار بعد أن أصبحت شبه مستحيلة في الوعي العربي بفعل الدعايات وتوالي يتجلى في المواقف الملموسة، وأن الذاكرة هي ذاكرة الشعب التي تغذيها سير الرجال الذين فجَروا الوضع المقاوم.
