بعد مرور60 عاماً على نكبة العرب فى فلسطين، يطل علينا الدكتور جمال سلامة بهذا الكتاب القيم الذى هو أقرب إلى المشروع القومى منه إلى الكتاب- بما يتضمنه من تحليل ووثائق وصور نادرة قلّما اطلع عليها أبناء أمتنا، ولعلنا لا نبالغ بوصفنا لهذا السِفر العلمى القيم بالمشروع القومى الذى يهدف إلى إحياء ذاكرة الأمة .. وقد لا نجد من الكلمات لنهديها إلى القارىء العربى أبلغ من الكلمات التى صاغها المؤلف فى المقدمة "إن أمة بلا ذاكرة هى أمة بلا حاضر أو مستقبل.. إنه لا معنى للحديث عن كيفية استعادة فلسطين دون الحديث عن كيف ضاعت فلسطين".
إن هذا الكتاب لا يهدف إلى مجرد تنشيط ذاكرة البعض، بقدر ما يهدف إلى حماية ذاكرة الأمة- حتى لا تتحول تلك الذاكرة إلى مجرد ذكريات.
