مؤلف الكتاب "مسارو إيبوكا" رجل أعمال ياباني كبير، ذو اهتمامات وأعمال مشهورة في المجالات النفسية والتربوية الكبيرة فيما يخص الأطفال الصغار. أسس رابطة التطور المبكر ومدرسة تكوين الموهوبين لذا يعتبر من القلة الأوائل الذين طرقوا عالم الطفولة المبكرة وفتحوه على مصراعيه أمام الملايين من البشر للدخول إلى هذا العالم الرحب والتعرف عليه معالم وتفاصيل.
يركز المؤلف على إحداث تغيير جذري في شكل وأسلوب تربية طفل ما قبل الثالثة فالمهم عنده تلك العلاقة القائمة بين الأهل وبين الطفل والتي على أساسها يتحدد مستقبله ومصيره، والمؤلف مقتنع تماماً بأن جميع الأطفال يولدون بإمكانيات وطاقات ذهنية وعقلية متقاربة وبالتالي ليس ثمة طفل زكي وآخر غبي بالولادة إنما الذي يحدد ذلك هو أسلوب التربية المتبع من قبل الأهل، خاصة في الفترة موضوع الكتاب. يرى المؤلف كذلك أن بإمكان الطفل الصغير تعلم السباحة والعزف على الكمان وإتقان عدة لغات في آن مما يصعب على البالغين تعلمه واستيعابه.
