تحيل عنونة ديوان الشاعر ماهر شرف الدين (الرسام الفاشل) إلى إستباق أفق الدلالة من حاضنة المتن الكلي للنص وتوحي العنونة إلى تلك الخيبة والذبول والضمور في المشهد الحياتي الشخصي، حيث تشيع في النص وعبر مساحته الكلية مناخات من الأسى والحزن والألم واللوعة، وتتراكم هذه المنافسات وتتمظهر عبر نسيج حكائي شعري مكثف شديد الإقتصاد بالكلام، حيث الإقتصار على التلميح والتأشير والإنتقال من الخاص/ الشخصي إلى العام/ الوطن والهوية.
في المقطع (43) من القصيدة نقرأ للشاعر: "أعيش حزني، أم اموت بحزني/ يا أيها الوطن المخلَص منَي؟/ وطن كبير أحبتَي، لكنما/ وطني يؤاخي، في الهزيمة، فنَي/ ماذا وماذا يا عيون حبيبتي/ هل يأسي الحالي يناسب سنَي؟/ أحتاج أن أبكي على صدر التي قد جرَرتني خلفها كالإبن".
وديوان "الرسام الفاشل" يتألف من قصيدة طويلة تمتد على (46) مقطعاً شعرياً انسابت عبر مستويات من إيقاع المعنى واللغة الدالة ورؤى الكشف والتأمل.
