تعتبر قضية الولاية بمنزلة التتمة والتذييل والخاتمة لبحث النبوة، وهي من المفردات المحببة إلى أذهان الشيعة الإمامية، وهي بالنسبة إليهم جامعة بين اصول الدين كافة: التوحيد والعدل والنبوة، وبما أنها كذلك فإنها من صلب إيمان المرء بالله ورسله وأوليائه الصالحين. فماذا تعني الولاية بمفهومها القرآني الذي طرحه الإمام الخامنئي؟ وكيف تضمن للمجتمع الإسلامي تماسكه وووحدته؟ وكيف يجب أن يتعامل المرء في ظل تواجده في مجتمع غير ولائي؟
يأتي هذا الكتاب ليجيب عن هذه الأسئلة وغيرها في (الولاية وأبعادها) وهو القسم الرابع من كتاب كليات المطالب في الفكر الإسلامي، ويتضمن ست جلسات قرآنية، عرّف خلالها الإمام الخامنئي الولاية بالمصطلح القرآني والتي تعني الترابط والإصطفاف داخل جبهة ومعسكر واحد، والإتصال الشديد بين مجموعة من أناس يمتلكون فكراً ويتجهون نحو فكر واحد. ثم تطرق الكتاب إلى جهتين من الروابط التي على الأمة الإسلامية إقامتها: الأولى جهة العلاقات الداخلية. والثانية جهة العلاقات الخارجية، إلى أن يصل إلى ولاية الإمام علي بن ابي طالب رضي الله عنه، وكيف تكون علاقة الإنسان مع وليّه. بالإضافة إلى كيفية اختيار هذا الوليّ والمعايير الخاصة بذلك. ويشير أن القرآن الكريم يعتبر أن كل ولاية غير الله هي ولاية طاغوت، وأن على الإنسان أن يهاجر من ولاية الشيطان إلى ولاية الله.
والكتاب جلسات قرآنية أقامها الإمام الخامنئي في أيام شهر رمضان المبارك عام 1353ه في مدينة مشهد المقدسة، هو مساهمة للتعرف على أصول الدين من الآيات القرآنية الكريمة.
