بقول الإمام الخميني: "إن الإيمان عمل قلبي، وما لم يكن فليس هناك إيمان. فعلى الشخص الذي علم بشيء عن طريق الدليل العقلي أو ضروريات الأديان، أن يسلم لذلك قلبه أيضاً، ولأن يؤدي العمل القلبي الذي هو نحو من التسليم والخضوع، ونوع من التقبل والإستسلام، عليه أن يؤدي ذلك، لكي يصبح مؤمناً، وكمال الإيمان هو الإطمئنان. فإذا قوي نور الإيمان تبعه حصول الإطمئنان في القلب".
وهذا الكتاب جزء من كتاب أعدّه ونشره مركز صهبا في إيران، خرج فيه الإمام الخميني في جلسات تفسير قرآنية في شهر رمضان المبارك عام (1363ه.) في مدينة مشهد المقدسة. وكانت الترجمة له عن طريق "دار المعارف الحكمية" واختيار عنوان "الإيمان ومستلزماته"، وهو عبارة عن سبع جلسات. عمد الإمام الخميني من خلال تفسير الآيات المرتبطة بموضوع الإيمان إلى تعريف معنى العبودية والإيمان والطاعة لله وشروطها، ومتى يكون الإنسان مورد رحمته تعالى. كذا معنى المغفرة والغفران، وذكر علائم التقوى، والخصال التي تؤهل الفرد لأن يكون مؤمناً. كما أشار الخامنئي في هذه الجلسات إلى نوعين من الإيمان. وأن الإيمان الواعي المطلوب مقابل الإيمان العصبي والتقليدي، وبالتالي هو وليد إلتزامات عملية من صلاة وصوم وزكاة وغيرها. وقد يكلف هذا الإيمان المؤمن مسؤوليات من جهاد ورفض للظلم وبذل للنفس والمال ... ثم تعرض لبحث قيمة الإيمان ونتيجته والبشائر التي أعدها الله للمؤمنين.
