اعترف ميثاق الأمم المتحدة بفكرة الإقليمية بإعتبارها إحدى وسائل تحقيق الأمن والسلم الدوليين، ما فسح المجال أمام إنتشار المنظمات الإقليمية بشكل مطرد ومتسارع، وواقعاً ثمَّة العديد من الإتجاهات التي عالجت هذه الموضوعات، إلا أنَّ هذا العمل يتميّز بالشمولية والموضوعية، حيث ألقينا الضوء على مختلف المنظمات من زوايا متعددة أبرزها القانوني والسياسي والتحليلي.
قُسِّم الكتاب إلى خمسة أجزاء، الأول للتعريف بالمنظمات الإقليمية وخصائصها وأنواعها، والثاني للنظام الإقليمي العربي، الذي ضمَّ الجامعة العربية وبعض المنظمات الإتحادية القطرية، كما المنظمات العربية غير الحكومية، فيما الثالث عالج المنظمات القارية والإقليمية الأوروبية والآسيوية والأمريكية والإفريقية.
أما الرابع فخصصناه لعرض مختصر لأهداف وعضوية منظمات إقليمية روابط وإتحادات لم تعالج في الفصل السابق، فيما الخامس تضمَّن وثائق ذات صلة بالنظام الإقليمي العربي.
إننا إذ نضع هذه الموسوعة بين يديّ المختص كما المهتم، نأمل أن يكون عملنا هذا، قد أسهم بإضافة الجديد لعلم يحتاج إلى الكثير من المتابعة والتحديث والتطوير.
