لم تكن هذه الأطروحة لتأتي بجديد، أو بأفكار مبتكرة لم تكن موجودة في أفق الحياة، إنما أعدّت كأطروحة لصياغة تاريخ يمدّ عصرنا الجديد بألوان من الماضي، في طرح وعرض، بأسلوب متطوّر مع تطور الشباب الجديد، حتى يتذوّقه ويشرئبّ إليه.
فهي تخدم الفكر والتراث وتمر بقنوات العصور الماضية، لتربطها كحلقة واحدة، عصراً بعد عصر، وتنساب انسياب النهر في الحقول، حتى تتصل قناتها بقنوات القرن العشرين، لتربط حياتها بحياتنا الحاضرة، فكأننا نشهد فصولها، ونتفاعل معها كشريط سينمائيّ يعرض مشاهد لأفكار أدبائها، من أدب مغمور لم يدرس، ولم يعتن به.
فهذه الأطروحة.. أو الدراسة للشعر ودوره في الحياة في العصور المتسلسلة، في حلقة منسّقة من العصر الجاهلي الى عصر النور، والعصر الأموي، والعصر العباسي، هي دراسة أو حلقات تتصل بعضها ببعض، حتى تتصل قناتها بالقرن العشرين، وما فيه من تطور فكر، وأسلوب شعر قفز في وثبته وخياله وجنّح في سماء الشعر الجديد، ككوكب متألّق في عتمة الظلام، في الحياة الأدبية الجديدة المعاصرة، لنرى هل الشعر كأمسه في علاجه للحياة الإجتماعية، وتصوير البيئة التي يعيش الشاعر على صعيدها، أسلوباً يؤثر في الحياة، كأسلحة يستعاض به عنها، في بعض المعارك، كلما انحصر سلاح الوغى في الحرف، حيث يعجز السلاح الأبيض أو المتطور أن يقوم مقام الحرف، فهنا يتحول الشعر الى سلاح يخيف الطغاة.
