لقد اختلف العلماء إختلافاً كبيراً حول تحديد مدلول الكبيرة، ونحن نذكر طرفاً من هذا الخلاف، ثم نعقبه إن شاء الله بالتعليق والترجيح.
فال الأسفراييني والسبكي: كل الذنوب كبائر، وليس هناك صغائر وذلك رعاية لعظمة الله وحرمة أمره ونهيه.
قد يخطئ العباد ويقع بعضهم في مثل هذه الآثام، صغائرها وكبائرها، فهل من سبيل إلى التوبة إلى الله تعالى وغفران تلك الآثام؟...
نقول: أن الآثام نوعان: "ما كان بين العبد وربه بإرتكاب ما نهى عنه، أو بترك ما أمره بفعله"، "ما كان بين العبد ومثله من العباد".
وهذا الكتاب هو أحد مصنفات الشيخ العالم العلامة نصر بن محمد بن أحمد بن إبراهيم السمرقندي، أبو الليث، الملقب بإمام الهدى، وهو من علماء القرن الرابع الهجري، توفي عام 374هـ - 983م، وهو من أئمة الحنفية من الزهاد المتصوفين.
وبعد، فهذا كتاب في عقوبة أهل الكبائر أعاذنا الله من ذلك بمنِّه وكرمه، ولله الحمد يشمل على عشرة أبواب: الباب الأول: "في عقوبة تارك الصلاة"، الباب الثاني: "في عقوبة عائق والديه"، الباب الثالث: "في عقوبة شارب الخمر"، الباب الرابع: "في عقوبة الزاني"، الباب الخامس: "في عقوبة اللواط وفعله"، الباب السادس: "في عقوبة آكل الربا"، الباب السابع: "في عقوبة النايحة"، الباب الثامن: "في عقوبة تارك الزكاة"، الباب التاسع: "في عقوبة قاتل النفس وقاطع الرحم"، الباب العاشر: "في النهي عن المزامير والمغاني وصفة الجنة وما فيها"... والله الموفق للصواب.
