من الكتب التي ذاع صيتها، واشتهرت لدى عامة الناس كتاب "تنبيه الغافلين"، الذي يحاكي فيه مؤلفه مشاعر المسلمين، فهو كتاب في المواعظ والحكم التي يحتاج إليها كل مسلم لا يوقظهم من غفوتهم، والسمو بهم ليكونوا من المؤمنين بل من المحسنين، وتنبيه الغافلين بأحاديث سيد الأنبياء والمرسلين "كتاب يحتاجه كل مسلم طامع للوصول إلى الحق من أعمال اليوم والليلة والأسبوع والشهر بل والسنة. ويحتاجه أيضاً خطباء المساجد لما يحوي من الترغيب والترهيب والنصائح، ولما فيه من تحفيز المسلم للقيام بواجباته الشرعية، وتطهيره من كل ما يعرض من أمور الدنيا.
هذا وقد اتبع المصنف منهجاً واضحاً في صياغة كتابه، حيث بدأه بذكر الآية أو الآيات التي تتعلق بالباب، مفسراً مبهمها وربما مستخلصاً فيها فائدة أو نصيحة، ثم بذكر الأحاديث بسندها إليه في كثير من الأحيان، ويؤكد أيضاً على الموضوع المطلوب منها، ثم يذكر الآثار المنقولة عن السلف الصالح، ثم يعقب على ذلك بتعليقات مفيدة، ونصائح وحكم لاستنهاض الهمم في الإقبال على الطاعات، وتجنب المعاصي والمنكرات، فينبه بذلك الغافلين إلى ما فيه صلاح الدنيا والدين.
