إن الأسئلة الجوهرية التي تحاول هذه الدراسة الإجابة عليها، هي عبارة عن: -ما هي المراحل التي مر بها علم الكلام الإمامي حتى القرن السابع الهجري؟ ومن هم أهم متكلميه في هذه المراحل وما هي أبرز مصنفاتهم؟
هل عرف علم الكلام الإمامي تطورات في المنهج الموظَف في تحصيل العقيدة وما هي تلك التطورات؟ من هم أصحاب التغيير هؤلاء وفي أي المصنفات طرحوا هذا التطوير؟ -ما هي أهم النقاط التي شملها التغيير المنهجي المزعوم؟ وما هو الإسهام الذي قدَمته المدرسة الحلية على هذا الصعيد؟ وما هي المناخات السياسية والفكرية التي دفعتهم بهذا الإتجاه؟ -ما هو الدور الذي اضطلعت به مؤلفات العلاَمة ابن النطهر الحلي كشخصية كلامية تحتل قمة الهرم الكلامي في المدرسة الحلية بهذا الشأن؟
هذه جملة من أهم الأسئلة التي حاولت الدراسة الإنشغال بها على مدى صفحاتها. إنَ أهمية هذا البحث تأتي من محاولة الكشف عن المناهج والرؤى التي أسهمت في بلورة الإعتقاد الإسلامي في جانبه البشري، وإيضاح مدى مرونه علم الكلام الإمامي في تعاطيه مع الأفكار المجايلة له.
إنَ أي حديث عن "فلسفة دينية" للمعتقد الإسلامي يبقى غير مكتمل وغير ناضج ما لم تسبقه دراسات معمقة ومفصلة تضيء الأبعاد التاريخية للمناهج والرؤى والصياغات التي حفلت بها مذاهب المسلمين وفرقهم. كما دونته مصنفات نوابغ كل مذهب وفرقة على حدة. إن هذه الحقول البحثية الواعدة هي البداية الحقيقية لكل نقاش جاد لدينا عن فلسفة الدين، وهي الخطوة الكبرى التي على باحثينا ومفكرينا أن يضطلعوا بها في هذا الإتجاه، وما هي الدراسة إلا مساهمة أولية متواضعة تنطلق من هذا الإطار.
