في هذا الكتاب قصص انبنت على قاعدة حكائية بوصفها حالات إنسانية متكاملة الوجود. فالقاعدة الحكاية لدى القاص الجبيري تتمتع بقوة أسلوب يجمع النقائض، ويوحد الفرقاء ويصوغ من خلال مقولاته لغة تفضي إلى المواءمة، لنجد أن القصص يجمعها رابط واحد هو اللغة السرديةالهادئة التي تحاول أن تلتقط المفارقة في أي مشهد حياتي على نحو قصة (نزهة) والتي عني فيها الكاتب لتأخذ شكل الشهادة الخاصة على عالم تزداد خصوصيته كلما اتسعت احتمالات العالم الآخر من حوله. وتحكي القصة أحلام فتاة عشرينية مع فارس أحلام منتظر تفتح له الأبواب "... وكل الأبواب التي تليه... بينما الفارس كان، كما تراءى لها، جسداً خواءً بلا قلب، وكان حصانه شاهداً على عجز الحكايات عن ضخ حياة، ولو مؤقتة في الخيال الذي صار خيالاً.. صار حروفاً مبعثرة تحكي عن فارس أحلام ل تجيء.. بينما تنتظره فتاة فتحت الباب قبل أوانه". وهكذا نجد القصة عند الجبيري جاءت على هيئة لوحة عني القاص بأوانها وبرائحة تفاصيلها، ونكهة وجودها الأصيل في الوجدان، فمعظم القصص في هذه المجموعة تدور على مفهوم استعادة التفاصيل القديمة.. تلك التي يسعى القاص من خلالها إلى تدوين مرحلة مهمة من مراحل بناء الوعي لدى الإنسان. وهذا يهني رؤية الواقع المعاش من منظور قصصي يعكس صورة ولقعية للحياة على نحو قصة (حديقة الحياة) حينما يصف لنا صورة المقبرة والقبور وما بينهما من شجيرات وأغصان وما يحثى فيهما من تراب هو من قبيل رسالة الواقع الحياتي الذي يسير كناعورة أبدية لا يمكن لها أن تتوقف إلا لتحمل مزيداً من الأسماء إلى دار الفناء... نحو قبور متراصة يعلوها التراب الذي يشيء بأن هناك من هو راقد بوقار صمته الأبدي...
وهكذا تسير بقية قصص المجموعة على هذا النحو التأملي، واستدعاء الذاكرة، ونبض المخبوء من حكايات مشبعة بنكهة الماضي.
يضم الكتاب عشرون قصة قصيرة نذكر منها: "صاحبي"، "فقاعة"، "نزهة أو فارس الأحلام"، "جدي والجبل"، "غريبة"، "هادي"، "صباح"، "الهروب الأبيض"، "زميل فرناندو"... الخ.
