أرسل الله سبحانه وتعالى التبيين لرفع الاختلافات بين الناس وخصوصاً تلك الاختلافات الناشئة عن اختلافهم في أمور دنياهم وقد استدعى ذلك وضع قوانين ترفع الاختلافات الطارئة. والأنبياء كانوا مبشرين ومنذرين، أيدهم الله بنصره وأنزل معهم الكتاب والميزان ليحكموا بين الناس فيما اختلفوا فيه وقد اختلفت الروايات في عدد النبيين وأشهر هذه الروايات ما رواه أبو ذر عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: أن الأنبياء مائة وثلاثة عشر ألف نب، والمرسلون منهم ثلاثمائة وأربعة وعشرون ألف نبي. ولكل من هؤلاء الرسل كتاب وشريعة. أما الكتب التي آتاها الله من أنبيائه غير أولي العزم فهي تخلو من الشرائع والأحكام.
وفي هذا الكتاب يقدم المؤلف طائفة من أحسن القصص القرآني بأسلوب تحليلي حديث، يجمع بين البساطة والأسلوب والتعمق بالمفاهيم وشرحها وتحليلها وهو كتاب يسلط الضوء على جوانب لم يتطرق إليها الباحثون من قبل.
