عرفت الساحة الأدبية في لبنان في نهايات القرن التاسع عشر، وثبة وطنية رائدة، أسست للإنجازات المعاصرة، وشهد النصف الأول من القرن الماضي رعيلاً من الكتّاب أقبلوا على الصحافة من بوابة الأدب والشعر، يحددهم التزام وطني وعربي، في مواجهة التتريك، ومن ثم الوصاية والإنتداب. سلاحهم كلمة حق مدوية. ومن هذا الرعيل، الشاعر "أمين رزق" (1890-1982م). لقد كان أمين رزق لبنانياً أصيلاً، جريئاً في قوله الحق، على المستويين الوطني والقومي، فهو عربي مندفع في مواجهة الحكم العثماني. وفي الدعوة إلى التحرر والمطالبة بالديمقراطية، وكانت مقالاته وقصائده تنضح بهذه المبادىء، يصوغها بلغة أنيقة، واسلوب بياني خاص، أقرب إلى السهل الممتنع، وظل حتى أواخر أيامه ممسكاً بريشته، يقطر فيها روحه وفكره وعاطفته، نثراً وشعراً، حتى لُقب بشاعر الشلال.
وبعد مئة وعشرين سنة على ولادته وسبع وعشرن من غيابه، تصدر مجموعة القصائد التي سلمت من الضياع، للكاتب والشاعر "أمين رزق" بعنوان "العرف الباقي" يقدمها بكل فخر الإبن إدمون رزق وهي بمجموعها قصائد نظمها والده بين سنة 1905 و 1982 مع نبذة عن حياته وشمائله وأوسمته وتكريمه ومعاناته حتى وفاته.
في قصيدة بعنوان: [نهواك يا لبنان] يقول أمين رزق:
من مسرح العقبان / للسفح للوديان ، أجدادنا الشجعان / كم شيّدوا بنيان ، عمّروا أوطان ، أنعم بهم أجدادنا / ما شابهم إفساد / ، قد حاربوا الإلحاد / والظلم والأحقاد ، بقوة الإيمان (...) ".
يضم الكتاب (37) قصيدة في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى لسنوات متعاقبة منذ 1905 وحتى العام 1981.
