إن عِلم الصَّرف لا يقلُّ أهميةً عن علم النَّحو ولا عن غيره من العُلوم العربية، بل ربما زاد عليها، فهو عِلمٌ يحتاج إليه جميعُ الناطقين بالعربية، فإن كان علمُ النحو يَقِي من اللَّحْن في أواخر الكلمات فإن علم الصرف يقي من اللَّحن في بِنية الكلمة، وبه يستطيع الناطقُ باللغة أن يقيسَ ما لم يسمَعْه على ما سَمِعه، فيَصُوغُ ما لا يُحصَى من الكلمات التي لم تَطرُق سَمْعَه من قبلُ؛ ولذلك لا يَستغني عن هذا العلم عالمٌ ولا كاتب ولا أديب؛ ليَعصِمَ لسانَه من الانحراف. ويسرُّ «دار الفاروق للاستثمارات الثقافية» أن تقدِّم واحدًا من أهمِّ الكتبِ التي ظَهَرت في العصر الحديث في علم الصرف، وهو كتاب «شَذا العَرْف في فنِّ الصَّرْف» للعلَّامة الشيخ: أحمد بن محمد الحملاوي، وهو من أنفعِ الكتب لطُلَّاب الدِّراسات الصَّرفية. ونرجو أن يجدَ القارئُ الكريمُ في هذه النسخة ما يميِّزها عن غيرها من نسخ الكتاب، من حيثُ إتقانُ الضبط، وسلامةُ النصِّ من الخطأ، ووضعُ بعض التعليقات والحواشي، وغيرُ ذلك مما حَرَصنا عليه في تحقيقِ الكتاب، ومن الله التوفيق.
