يرسم هذا الكتاب صورة للمكان، أو للقرية التي ولد فيها الكاتب، والتي هدمها الصهاينة تماماً بعدما طردوا سكانها الشرعيين، وذلك ابتغاء طمس معالمها وإزالتها من الوجود، ولكن هذا الكتاب يهدف إلى صيانة صورتها واستبقائها حية في خيال الأجيال المتلاحقة، وذلك لأن لأهلها الحق في العودة إليها، وفقاً لإرادة الشرعية الدولة. ويهتم الكتاب بالبيئة الطبيعية والتقاليد الإجتماعية، وخاصة بالملابس والأعراس والأغاني والأمثال الشعبية. كما أنه يسرد سيرة المؤلف خلال السنوات العشر الأولى من عمره، وهي التي قضاها في الوطن قبل اغتصابه على يد البربرية الحديثة المدججة بالجحيم نفسه. ثم يقدم مسرداً للأحداث التي جرت في القرية خلال فترة النزاع الذي دار بينها وبين المغتصبين، ويسرد كذلك أخبار التشرد واللجوء منذ أن غادر الضيعة حتى استقر في مدينة بعلبك، بعدما أمضى شهراً تقريباً في محافظة حماة.
