قليلة, بل جد قليلة، هي الدراسات التي خصصها العالم العربي الحديث للتراث الفذ الذي تركه محمد بن عبد الجبار النقري, المتوفى عام 965 م والذي لا نعرف عن مسيرة حياته سوى النزر اليسير. وبالتأكيد لم يكن هذا الشح من قبيل الصدفة ففي الحق أن النصوص النقرية قد أوغلت في التجريد والعلو إلى حد, جعلها غريبة عن الذهن الحديث الجانح إلى العزوف عن المتعاليات، أو إلى قلة الإهتمام بكل ما يخرج عن التجربة الواقعية. بيد أن هذا العلو، الذي كان من شأنه أن يجعل الأسلوب سامقاً باذخاً على نحو متميز, ينم, فيما أرى، عن رغبة نصف مكتومة مؤداها أن الرجل يرمي إلى ابتكار كتاب مقدس يخصصه لنقاوة الخاصة من البشر، أو قل إنه يحاول أن يبتكر كتابه المقدس الذي يخصه وحده من دون سائر الناس. فلا غرابة في الذهاب إلى أن النقري هو واحد من كبار المتنبئين الذين ظهروا في التاريخ، ولكنه المتنبئ الذي يؤمن بأنه مرسل إلى نفسه وحدها.
