تميَّز سليمان، النبي والملك، بحكمته وقوله الشعر والأمثال، فنال شهرة فائقة بين شعوب وأديان كثيرة، وربما لم توجد شخصية تفوقه شهرة، أو خلود، ذُكر على مرور الأزمان. فقد كان لأسفاره مكانتها في الكتاب المقدّس بين اليهود والمسيحيين، وذكر العهد الجديد بفخر أن السيد المسيح من ذرّيّة سليمان، وأشاد بحكمته. كذلك كان لأخبار معجزاته وقدراته التي حباه بها الله مكانها في آيات القرآن الكريم؛ حيث وضع سليمان في مرتبة النبوة، ووُصف بأجَلّ الوصف، على عكس العهد القديم الذي عدّه ملكاً، مارس كل شرور البشر، بما فيها الكفر بالله. وبعد تفصيل سيرة سليمان، ومقارنة ما جاء حولها في الديانات السماوية تأتي نصوص أسفاره كاملة، لنجد في قراءتها بلاغة المَثل وجمال الكلمة ورقة التعبير وحكمته، وقد يصدمنا ما فيها من متناقضات وغرائب حيث ترتقي كوجدان صوفي وإشراق معرفي إلى آفاق سماوية، ثم تعود؛ لتساير واقع الإنسان، وتقدم له حكماً وأمثالاً خالدة، ولكنها لا تنسى أسمى مشاعر الإنسان: الحب؛ حيث سيفهمه بعضنا حباً بشرياً غريزياً، والبعض الآخر سيعدّونه حباً إلهياً صوفياً. وعند ذلك سندرك أن أسفار سليمان تستحق القراءة، بل تستحق التأمل الطويل في معانيها؛ لأنها تجاوزت حدود القوميات والأديان، وارتقت لمستوى الأدب الإنساني.
