تحتل الديار المقدّسة مكانةً خاصةً لدى المسلمين وغير المسلمين ونظراً لأهمية الرسوم التي قام بها ريتشارد برتن وجدت من المناسب جداً أن أقوم بنشر هذه الرسوم وغيرها من رسوم بعض الرحّالة والحجاج الذين زاروا الديار المقدسة في القرن السادس عشر والسابع عشر والثامن عشر والتاسع عشر وهي في الواقع لوحات فنية جميلة تغطي صورة عن الحج وطقوسه والأزياء التي كان الحجاج يرتدونها قبل الإحرام - الأهم من ذلك هو رسوم لمكة والمدينة ورمي الجمرات والوقوف على عرفات، إن كل لوحة من اللوحات تتكلم عن نفسها.
إن الألوان الجميلة التي استعملت في التلوين تعطي مساحة كبيرة من التأمل في تلك الرسوم الفريدة.
هذه اللوحات تعود لفنانين مسلمين وغير مسلمين ومنهم:
1-ريتشارد برتن (Richard Burton) الذي تشكّل رسومه المادة الأكبر في هذا الكتاب.
2-بي دبليو ام تراب (P.W.M.Trap) - الذي رسم أربعة رسوم تمثل الحاجات المنزلية والحياتية التي كانت مستعمله في الحجاز.
3-رسام تركي مجهول الإسم: رسم المسجد الحرام والحرم المكي في القرن السابع عشر.
4-الرسام سيد علي ولي - إيراني في حدود القرن الثامن عشر - رسم الحرم المكي على بلاطة خزفية، تظهر تفاصيل الحرم المكي.
5-رسام إسلامي مجهول - رسم البيت الحرام حدود القرن الثامن عشر الميلادي.
