ترمي هذه الدراسة إلى ثلاثة أهداف: الأول، هو إعطاء صورة مركزة لنشأة جامعة الدول العربية وبنائها التنظيمي. والهدف الثاني، شرح الأدوار المختلفة التي قامت بها، وخاصة الدور الأمني للجامعة إزاء الكيان الصهيوني وإزاء الاعتداءات الاستعمارية الأخرى، وكذلك الدور التعاوني للجامعة بما فيه تنسيق السياسات الخارجية للبلدان العربية والحل السلمي للمنازعات بينها وتحقيق التعاون الاقتصادي والتعاون الثقافي العربي. والهدف الثالث، هو رسم صورة مستقبلية للجامعة انطلاقاً من دلالات الخبرة التاريخية ومتغيرات المستقبل.
