يقدم هذا الكتاب في وقت أحوج ما نكون فيه الى الدعاء والاستغفار والتوبة, وطلب الحاجات من الله تعالى. وقد تحدث في الفصل الأول عن الذكر, وذلك توفيق من الله تعالى, لأنه لا يتأتى أن ينفصل الذكر عن الدعاء. فالذكر في كثير من من الأحايين دعاء. والدعاء في كثير من الأحايين ذكر. والذكر طاعة لله, فمن أطاع الله فقد ذكره, ومن لم يطعه فليس بذاكر لله, وإن أكثر من التسبيح وتلاوة القرآن. ومن أراد أن يكون من الذاكرين فما عليه إلا الاقتداء بسيد المرسلين محمد عليه السلام الذي كان أكمل الخلق ذكراً لله تعالى, بل كان كلامه كله ذكراً لله. وثناؤه عليه بآلائه, وتمجيده, وسؤاله ودعائه إياه ورغبته ورهبته ذكراً منه له, وسكوته وصمته ذكراً لله منه له بقلبه فكان صلى الله عليه وسلم ذاكراً في أكثر أحيانه, ولهذا حرص العلماء قديماً وحديثاً في تدوين الأذكار المأثورة عن رسول الله عليه الصلاة والسلام فمنهم من أفردها بالتصنيف. ومنهم من ضمنها بالتصنيف, ومنهم من ضمنها في كتابه المؤلف في السنة.
