"هذه الدراسة ليست محاولة في إثبات عروبة مصر، فعروبة مصر ليست شيئاً منفصلاً عن مصر، إنها مصر ذاتها، فليس ينكرها إلا عدوَ أو خادم له، أو صفيق لا يستحي من إنكار الواقع الماثل.
وأنا لم أكتب هذه الدراسة لأي من هؤلاء، وإنما كتبتها للذين يعلمون أن الإعتزاز الحق بمصر يعني الدفاع عن أرضها وثقافتها وحريتها ومصالحها ومقدساتها، وهذا بالضبط ما تريده منهم العروبة، فمن يعتز بمصريته ويدافع عنها يعتزون في الوقت ذاته بعروبته ويدافع عنها (...)".
"والذين يظنون أن العروبة قد أتت مع عبد الناصر، سيرون بعد قراءتهم لمختاراتي من كتابات العروبين المصريين الذين سبقوا عبد الناصر أن عروبة مصر هي التي خلقت هذا الإبن العظيم وليس هو الذي خلقها.
والقياس على هذا صحيح، فليس في وسع شخص آخر أو نظام آخر أن يقضي على العروبة، إنها هي التي ستقضي عليه!".
