"إنتماء مصر للعروبة قـضية حـسمت منذ الفتح العـربي ثـم الإسلامي لمصر، بـل أكـاد أقـول إن انـتماء مصر للمنطـقة العربـية سـبـق الفـتـح الإسلامى بعــشرات المئات من السنين، عـندما تواصل الدور الإستراتيجى لمصر، واتسع وامـتــد ليـشـمـل أرجـاء عـديـدة فى المـنطـقة، حـتى جــاء الفـتـح العـربي والإســلامي، فـأكـد بالـتراث واللغـة والثـقـافة ما برهـنت وأكـدت عـليه الوحدة الإستراتيجية للمنـطـقة. ولكن ما نود أن نؤكد عليه، أن الإدعاء السياسي الراهن الذى يقـول بأن مصر ليـست عـربية، اسـتـناداً على خصوصية مصر، هـو ادعــاء يـقصد تعميـق عـزلة مصر، وإرجاعها الى حيز إقليمي ضيـق هزيل. إن أصحاب هـذه الدعوة يستـندون على ما يـسمى "مسألة الإنقطاع" في تاريخ مصر الذى يـقـدمه أصحاب هـذه الدعـوة على أنه عـصور سـياسية متـناقضة منسوبة إلى السلالات والأسـر الحاكمة، فهـو تاريـخ يفـتـقر الى الوحـدة وخـصوصاً بين شـطـريه الرئـيسيـين: الفرعـوني والعربي الإسلامي. إن الـسـر فى هـذا الفـصل بـين مراحل التاريـخ المصري يكمن في خطأ منهجي هو النظر إلى إسلام المصريين وتعربهم على أنه نتيجة فعـل خارجي كان المصريون مجـرد موضوع له.. في حـين أننا لو نظرنا إليه على أنه النتيجة المنطقية لتطور التاريخ المصري القـديم من ناحـية، وتفاعله مع تاريخ المنطـقة وأهـدافها من ناحية أخـرى، لأدركنا أن مصر العـربية الإسلامية ليست إلا ولادة جديدة متطورة لمصر الفرعونية التي كانت قـد اضمحلت قبل ظهور الإسلام بأكثر من ألف عام" المؤلف
