في مفتتح باكورة أعمالها (أحلام وردية) تقول الكاتبة أمل الحامد: لم تكن حكاية ذلك الطفل .. من دون قيمة:
بهذه العبارة التي حفظتها في قلبي، بدأت كتابة إصداري الأول، وهو عبارة عن مجموعة قصصية قصيرة، تحوي عشرين قصة قصيرة! فلكل منا حكايته في هذه الحياة، منا من قرر أن يغوص في بحر الحياة .. بلا جدوى! وغرق في ذلك البحر في نهاية حكايته! ومنا من تعلّم جيداً فنون الغوص في هذا البحر، فأصبح يترجم لغة الموج في البحر، يحاول ويحاول، إلى أن يصل في النهاية لمبتغاه، وذلك في رحلته عبر سفينته، حكايتي مع البحر لم تكن من دون قيمة .. ! ...".
ومن هذا المفتتح النصي تسوح أمل الحامد بـ (أحلام وردية) وتبحر بنا في متن النص، تهديه إلى كل من يعيشون أحلامهم، كأبطال قصصها، لتقول لهم: هكذا هي الطموحات .. تبدأ بـأحلام وردية .. ربما ! ثم تصبح قصصاً ملهمة لأحدهم، وربما للبشرية ...
وهكذا كان وسام بطل قصة (أحلام وردية) الذي قرر السفر إلى لندن للدراسة، والتخصص في طب الأورام الخبيثة، بعد أن فقد والدته بسبب هذا المرض، وكاد أن يفقد أخته: "أنا وأنتِ سنهدي السماء بالونات وردية ... وبإذن الله نجد علاجاً لـ "السرطان". هي قصة، بل رحلة! رحلة في هذا العالم الغامض ..! الجميل المليء بالطموحات التي كانت أحلاماً وردية ...
